Outreach to Outcomes: Community Health Worker Training Cohort 3

A Community Health Worker (CHW) is someone who works within their community to connect people with the care and support they need. CHWs often come from the communities they serve, which helps them understand the unique challenges, cultures, and needs of their neighbors.

This program is designed for individuals passionate about creating change in BIPOC communities, rural areas, and low-income neighborhoods. As a CHW, you’ll play a vital role in advocating for equity, improving access to health services, and building trust within these communities.

Through this course, you’ll learn to connect individuals with local social services and healthcare providers, educate people about staying healthy, provide ongoing support and encouragement, and advocate for better resources. You’ll also discover how to empower others to advocate for themselves and their families, ensuring that health and wellness are accessible for all.

This course uses principles and practices of Popular Education, creating a space for participants to share and learn together. You’ll explore the roles of CHWs and gain knowledge on a range of relevant topics. By the end of the course, you'll understand key aspects of community and public health and how you can make a positive impact on individuals, families, and communities.

  • 20, 4.50-hour live Zoom sessions guided by experienced facilitators.
  • Gain access to a wide variety of resources, including strategy planning guides, skill implementation tools, tip sheets, and interactive activities tailored for Community Health Workers.
  • Learn actionable strategies to address real-world challenges and make a meaningful difference in the health and well-being of your community.

Upon completion of this training, participants will qualify for certification as a Community Health Worker and 90 Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) through the Office of Equity and Inclusion at the State of Oregon. NEON CHW CEUs are reciprocal to MHACBO credits.

*Participants are required to attend all sessions to qualify for certification.

Cost is $1,500
