Community Health Worker Certification Training

Using principles and practices of popular education, you will share and learn about the roles of CHWs as well as a range of topics relevant to the work of CHWs. By the end, you will have a big-picture understanding of community and public health and the ways you can have a positive impact on individual, family, and community health and wellness.

Community Health Workers (CHW) are members of the communities they serve and work in team environments. They build trusting relationships with community members, local social service agencies, and healthcare providers. The CHW workforce models and promotes health equity for communities.

This online course consists of 20 online, 4.25-hour sessions every other Tuesday and Wednesday morning from 8:45 am to 1:00 pm.

*Upon completion of this training, participants will qualify for certification as a Community Health Worker and 90 Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) through the Office of Equity and Inclusion at the State of Oregon. NEON CHW CEUs are reciprocal to MHACBO credits.

*Participants are required to attend all sessions to qualify for certification.

  • October 7, 8, 15, 21, 22, 28, 29
  • November 4, 5, 12, 18, 19

Cancellation/Refund Policy:

NEON, on rare occasions, may have to cancel an event. Refunds will be offered per our stipulations below, or the registrant may choose to attend another training of the same value on another date offered. CEUs will not be awarded for sessions that do not occur.

For registration amounts greater than $100, registrants may request a full refund 2 weeks prior to the training. Within the 2 weeks before the event, 50% will be refunded. No refunds will be given on the day of the training or afterward. For registration amounts less than $100, 50% will be refunded up to one week before the training date. After that, no refunds will be made.
